For most travelers, the difference between going solo and sharing can be hundreds of dollars.

1. Join Existing Departures (Easiest Option)

The simplest way is to join a planned group departure.

We collect requests from travelers and list them on our website. You can:

  • See who is already planning to travel

  • Choose dates that match your schedule

  • Join a group that is already forming

2. Send a Request and Let Us Match You

If you don’t see suitable dates, you can simply send us your preferred travel plan and select the tour you’re interested in.

We offer several route options:

To send a request, open your preferred tour and click the “Book Now” button. Then choose the departure option “Other date” and submit your request.

We will:

  • Add your departure on our upcoming departures list

  • Match you with other travelers — they will be able to see and join your departure

  • Help form a group around your preferred dates

You don’t need to search manually — we handle the coordination for you.

3. Be Flexible with Dates

Flexibility is key.

If your schedule is too strict, it may take longer to find partners. But if you can adjust by a few days, your chances increase significantly.

💡 Tip: Most groups form faster during peak season (June–September).

4. Use Travel Communities (Optional)

Some travelers also try to find travel partners through:

  • Facebook groups

  • Travel forums — for example, many of our previous travelers post on the Caravanistan forum by sharing their departure link in the Tajikistan or Pamir Highway sections

This approach can work—but it often requires time and effort, and plans are not always reliable.

That’s why many travelers prefer joining organized departures instead, where everything is already structured and coordinated.

5. Choose the Right Group Size

On our website, Pamir Highway trips departure are typically shared between 4 travelers per car by default (lowest cost).

If you prefer more comfort, you can request a smaller group size:

  • 3 travelers per car

  • 2 travelers per car

  • or even a private tour for one person

Naturally, prices vary depending on the number of travelers. You can find detailed pricing options in the pricelist on each tour page.

Our vehicles typically have 7 seats. In most cases, the back seats are used for luggage to provide more space and comfort inside the car.

However, in certain situations—such as:

  • a group of 4 travelers traveling with a guide, or

  • a family or private group of more than 4 people

—we use all available seats for passengers and place the luggage on the roof rack.

No worries—this is a common and safe practice in the region. Luggage is securely covered and protected, just as local drivers regularly do on routes between Dushanbe and Khorog.

What Happens After You Find Partners?

Our system is well organized. Once you are listed in a departure, we automatically track new travelers joining the group.

You will be informed about:

  • how many travelers have joined

  • important updates and useful tips for your trip

Based on our experience, travelers who join 2–3 months in advance have the highest chance of forming a full group.

We operate on a first come, first served basis. This means that the earlier you join, the higher your chances of:

  • securing a spot in the group

  • forming a full car

  • getting the lowest possible cost

Once Your Group Is Formed

After your group is complete, we take care of the next steps:

  • We collect passport details for the GBAO permit (you will receive an email notification)

  • A driver and vehicle are arranged

  • You receive full trip details and final instructions

  • On Day 1, the driver picks you up from your accommodation and the journey begins

From that point, everything is straightforward—you just prepare and enjoy the trip.

What If I Can’t Find Anyone?

No problem—you still have options:

  • Wait for more travelers to join

  • Adjust your dates

  • Or choose a private tour

We will always suggest the best available solution based on your situation.

Also many travelers join groups on the last minite after arrival in the starting destination of the tour. So this is also a chance to find other travelers
